Most Popular Television Lead Actor 2021-22

Indian Film & Television Awards (IFTA) is an initiative by PolBol Media that honours outstanding achievements in Bollywood, Television, OTT and Music industries. It’s a medium through which the public votes on who they believe is the most deserving winner of all.

India’s First People’s Choice Awards

IFTA is India’s first People’s Choice Awards that gives the public an absolute authority to vote and select their winner.

Unlike other awards, there is no Jury on board and the nominations for different award categories are selected after a thorough primary and secondary market research. The public can vote for their favourite celebrities on the basis of which the Winners for different award categories are decided.

Instagram Poll Challenge

In addition to the online public voting for this category, IFTA also introduced the first-ever Instagram Poll Challenge.

The IFTA 2022 voting site only allowed voters with Indian phone numbers. Therefore, the Poll Challenge was introduced to give international fans an opportunity to vote for their favourite celebrities.

To choose the Poll Challenge nominees, a story was posted on their official Instagram page. The audience had to give the name of their most preferred celebrity for that particular award category. Out of all the names received, the top 4 names compete for the Poll Challenge. These top four challengers were then made to compete further for the first spot.

A series of 3 poll challenges were conducted for each respective award category, from which the winner was decided. The Winner of the Poll Challenge gets bonus votes from his/her total votes on the IFTA voting site.

1. Poll Challenge Winner gets 10% Bonus votes, if he/she Wins 1 of the 3 challenges

2. Poll Challenge Winner gets 15% Bonus votes, if he/she Wins 2 of the 3 challenges

3. Poll Challenge Winner gets 20% Bonus votes, if he/she Wins all the 3 challenges

There were 3 Poll Challenges organised for respective Award Category, where Harshad Chopda won all the 3 Challenges and got 20% Bonus votes.

Most Popular Television Lead Actor

This Award category is especially important because it recognises the efforts and talent of the Television Lead Actors, who are pivotal in the success of any Television Serial. It is their heartfelt performances that brings the story to life.

So, to recognise this talent and appreciate their hard work, the category for the Most Popular TV Lead Actor was curated.

Congratulations to the winner!

So, without further ado, we are delighted to announce that the award for the IFTA Most Popular TV Lead Actor with the highest votes goes to Harshad Chopda for his performance in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with 9343 votes (inclusive of 1557 Instagram poll votes, i.e., 20% Bonus votes).

Harshad Chopda is liked by the audience for playing Dr. Abhimanyu Birla in the TV Serial, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. His portrayal as the perfect family man—a great son, an ideal big brother, and the family’s protector—has brought all the public’s attention and love to him.

Harshad, who was casted for this show in October 2021, has made a name for himself in the industry as well as in people’s hearts in just over an year.

Standing strong at number 2 is another favourite among the public, Moshin Khan, with 10% of the votes for his performance in the show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Ever since playing the role of Kartik Goenka in this show, he has acquired a huge fan following and became a common household name.

Following Nominations

Other TV Lead Actors who have received abundant love and support from the public for their performances and have joined the top five are Ankit Gupta for Udaariyan with 8% of the vote, Dilip Joshi for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah with 7% of the vote, and Nakuul Mehta for Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 with 6% of the vote.

Other nomination includes Simba Nagpal, Shagun Pandey, Vivian Dsena, and Gaurav Khanna, among a few others. They did not get enough votes to join the list of the top 5. For further details refer to the below detailed result.
